After completing initial training at Bankstown, Barbara was posted to RAAF Stations around Sydney, including as Staff at Bankstown, and Bradfield Park until she was discharged on 22 May 1944. Barbara had been promoted to CPL on 1 May 1942.

Barbara married Leslie James Carr, a veteran of New Guinea & Borneo on 13 April 1946 in Sydney.
