Highlights: Elma was born on 11 Jul 1907. After completing her Nurse training at the Gladesville Psychiatric Hospital, Elma joined on 23 Feb 1942 and was posted to 113 Australian General Hospital, Concord. In October 1943 she sailed for Port Moresby and was posted to 2/5 Australian General Hospital.

Elma returned to Australia for a short while, working at 102 Australian General Hospital, Holland Park, before being posted to 2/7 Australian General Hospital at Lae in April 1945. On her return to Sydney in December 1945, Elma was again posted to 113 Australian General Hospital, Concord, before her discharge in January 1946.

In 1954, when she requested her medals, she was working at the Orange Psychiatric Hospital in a senior nurse management role. In 1969, Elma was awarded the British Empire Medal. She was the Matron of Gladesville Psychiatric Hospital at that time. It would appear that Elma never married.
