Highlights: Ethel enlisted on 14 Feb 1942 at 25 years of age and was sent to Batlow. She moved to Leeton on 19 April 1942, Hillston on 10 Jul 1943, Bathurst on 28 Oct 1944 and spent a month at Richmond in January 1945 cutting corn for the Americans, before being sent to Berri (SA), on 8 Feb 1945, to pick grapes. She also went to Griffith on 6 Apr 1945 and to a mixed farm at Narrandera on 7 May 1945 before being discharged on 21 Dec 1945.

Ethel married Dudley Francis Cooper in Crookwell in 1948.
