SISTER Ethel Netta HOWARD

Highlights: Ethel had completed her nurse training at Tamworth District Hospital in 1908. Known as Netta she joined the Australian Army Nursing Service on 26 Apr 1916 aged 36 years old and sailed to Marseilles arriving 6 Apr 1917 and served with 13th Static Hospital (British) until transferring to 1 Australian General Hospital in the field in France (Rouen) on 1 Sep 1917. Netta also served with 2 Australian General Hospital and 25th General Hospital.
She returned to England on 19 Apr 1919 and undertook a Household Management and Cookery Course until 14 Aug 1919, when she returned to Australia as nursing staff on SS Ormonde. Discharged on 27 Feb 1920. Netta did not marry and died in Chatswood in 1962.
