Highlights: Ina enlisted on 1 Jun 1942, aged 19 yrs old at 114 Australian General Hospital, Goulburn as a nursing orderly. It is possible that Ina was working at the Kenmore Hospital in a nursing capacity when the facility was transferred from the Health Department NSW to the Australian Army and some staff who did not wish to move to other NSW psychiatric hospitals were able to join the Australian Army.
In March 1943, Ina undertook 3 weeks training at the AAWMS training school at Ingleburn before returning to 114 Australian General Hospital, Goulburn. On 30 Aug 1943 she was transferred to 112 Military Hospital, Brisbane (Greenslopes).
Ina married Leslie Harold Howard Quayle on 22 Dec 1943 in Goulburn. Leslie was serving with 146 Australian General Transport Company, based in Watsonia, Melbourne at the time they were married. Ina was discharged for compassionate reasons on 2 Aug 1944 while Leslie served until March 1945 and they settled in inner city Sydney.
