After completing initial training at RAAF Station Bradfield Park, she was sent to 5 Service Flying Training School, Uranquinty as a stores clerk arriving 7 Apr 1942, before moving to Air Defence Headquarters Melbourne as a general clerk on 6 Oct 1942 where she remained until discharge on 27 Feb 1946.
Renee had been promoted to Corporal on 27 May 1943 and Sergeant on 1 May 1945. On 28 Jul 1945 Renee married VX34640 CPL Leonard Martin Mansergh, a pay clerk posted to 7 Australian General Hospital, who had served in the Middle East and New Guinea, before the hospital returned to its final home in Heidelberg, Melbourne. The couple settled in Middle Park Melbourne after discharge.
